Despite being one of the leading exponents of Arte Povera, Pier Paolo Calzolari was able to develop its focus and centrality on the use of materials in a completely personal way, aimed at overcoming the simple contemplative act, due to the immediacy of the encounter with poor materials, to focus instead on a deeper spiritual dimension. In particular, the alchemical exaltation of the transformative properties of matter contributes to a feeling of constant change and a propensity to rediscover a sense of poetry in everyday life.
The Untitled work presented here is linked to a group of works conceived between 1967 and 1970 and, through the use of salt, reveals this sense of exaltation and renewal of reality through some of its most basic organic components.
